Attorney David Shapiro graduated from The University of Flordia, College of Journalism, in 1981. He graduated from Florida State University College of Law with honors in 1985 and was admitted to The Florida State Bar the same year. While attending the Florida State University College of Law, Mr. Shapiro served on the Flordia State Law Review and published articles on The Safety Belt Law, as well as Liable and Defamation. Mr. Shapiro was also chosen to represent the Florida State College of Law in the National Moote Court and National Mock Trial Competitions.

Jim L. Delgado

Jim L. Delgado was born in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from J.M. Hanks High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was an Inertial Navigation Systems Specialist on F-4 Wild Weasels.
He graduated, summa cum laude, from the inter-American University of Puerto Rico. He then graduated from Stetson College of Law and received a master’s degree in business administration from Stetson University.
After law school, Jimmy went to work for the Public Defender’s Office in Bradenton. While there, he gained valuable trial experience in criminal defense law in both misdemeanor and felony divisions.
Jimmy began his employment at Kallins & Little in October 1999 and was named partner in June of 2004. He practices primarily in the areas of personal injury and criminal defense.
Due to his involvement in the community, Delgado received the Manatee County Bar Association Community Service Award 2007 and the Florida Trends Best Up and Coming Attorneys Award in 2008.
Jimmy Delgado is a past president of the Gulf Coast Latin Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Manatee Educational Television. He has served as a member of the Central Economic Development Committee, Manatee Community Action Agency, Legal Aid of Manasota, and Community Leadership Council for USF Sarasota-Manatee. He has also served as an attorney coach for St. Stephens Episcopal School Mock Trial Team and served as a judge in the Teen Court Program at the Manatee County Courthouse.
Jimmy was awarded the 2018 William Grimes Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service by the Manatee County Bar Association. This is the highest honor awarded by the association for community service.
Delgado is married and has two children.

Adam Shapiro received his law degree, with honors, from Stetson University College of Law. After finishing his first year of law school ranked in the top five percent of his class, Mr. Shapiro was invited to join the prestigious Stetson Law Review and was awarded a merit-based scholarship for his achievements. While in law school, he focused on courses related to Personal Injury and wrote a Case Note on Worley v. Central Florida Young Men’s Christian Association Inc., a pivotal Florida Supreme Court case in his chosen field. He edited numerous articles published by the Stetson Law Review Journal. Mr. Shapiro passed the Florida Bar Exam on his first attempt in September of 2017.
Prior to attending law school, Adam Shapiro worked in the medical field at Bowes Imaging Center helping accident victims receive medical care. During his three years in law school, Mr. Shapiro worked for two prominent Personal Injury Law Firms including a Sarasota law firm, Shapiro, Goldman, Babboni, Fernandez, & Walsh and a Tampa law firm, Harmon, Woods, Parker, & Abrunzo. His experience includes handling auto-accidents, uninsured/underinsured motorist claims, first-party property claims, scar cases, HIPAA compliance, insurance denials, slip and falls, commercial trucking cases, premises liability, sexual harassment, invasion of privacy, defamation and watercraft accidents.
Adam Shapiro is an active member of his local community. Before attending college, he volunteered at the Special Olympics and Habitat for Humanity. During law school, he volunteered at Gulfcoast Legal Services’ Low-Income Tax Payer Clinic and Metropolitan Ministries in order to help poverty-stricken people receive free legal advice. After graduating, Adam has volunteered for local political campaigns and participated in beach clean-ups in Sarasota and Manatee County.

Attorney James Horne graduated from the Florida International University College of Law with Honors in 2012 and was admitted to the Florida Bar that same year. He received the book award for the highest grade in Constitutional law and Business Associations. Prior to attending law school, he attended Florida International University and graduated with high honors with a Bachelor of Business Administration where he concentrated on Finance and International Business.

James practices in the areas of complex medical malpractice and personal injury law/wrongful death. He is fortunate to have a Medical Doctor, who co-counsels all of the medical malpractice cases for the firm. He is admitted to practice law in Florida and the US Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.
James has been actively involved with the Manatee County Bar Association (MCBA) and Legal Aid of Manasota. He was the past president (2017) and current board member of the Young Lawyers Division. He has won the Pro Bono Services Award from the Legal Aid of Manasota for providing free legal services to the survivors of domestic violence.

Of Counsel Shapiro I Delgado
Dr. Cohen received his B.A. from New York University in 1964. He attended Brooklyn Law School graduating in 1967 and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1968. He graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 1976. After completing a residency if Family Practice he moved to Bradenton, Florida in July, 1978. In 1983 Dr. Cohen passed the Florida Bar Examination and was admitted to the Florida Bar. He joined Gary Roberts and Ed Ricci in 1983 and was of counsel with firm for several years. In 1994 he was awarded an MBA Nova University. He joined the law firm of Kallins, Little and Delgado and worked with that firm on an of counsel basis for about 7 years. During his years since moving to Florida he has practice both law and medicine. During that period he eventually became Chief of Staff at Blake Medical Center, was a member of the law firm of Paster, Ray and Cohen. In addition to participating in Medical Malpractice litigation, both for plaintiffs and defendants he also became a mediator and health care risk manager. Among his professional achievements he became President of the American College of Legal Medicine, a professional organization of Physician/ Attorneys, served on many hospital medical staff committees, and currently serves as Medical Director for the largest free medical clinic in Manatee County. He brings a unique combination of medical knowledge and experience and an active legal career to Shapiro/ Delgado.
