The Sarasota Police Department eventually located and arrested the driver, who was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
A devastating single-vehicle crash occurred in May 2021 on University Parkway in Sarasota, resulting in multiple fatalities. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a car carrying four passengers lost control of the vehicle, which left the road and struck a tree. The impact caused the car to split in half, killing three of the occupants and seriously injuring the fourth.

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on 15th Street East in Bradenton in February 2021. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 65-year-old man was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a car traveling northbound. Tragically, the man died at the scene from his injuries.
